This 135i has been parked next to the office building parking garage on the street that leads back into my neighborhood since at least April. The G37 behind it also really likes the spot it’s in.
I first noticed these two cars because they were parked in this exact spot back in April when I first met the realtor to look at my house, and they were still there when I moved in. They stayed there for several more weeks after that. I had been meaning to take a picture of them, but kept forgetting, only for the G37 to move. But when it parked back behind the 135i again a couple days later, I had to act quickly!
This particular 135i is painted the same Carbon Black color as my old 135is was. But this one has an abominable—like all of them—roof rack and some kind of weird bumper cushion tag frame on its front Massachusetts license plate. THIS IS SPAAAARRRRTTTAAAAAA MARYLAND.
Its brake rotors were heavily caked in rust, from having not moved since at least April, and probably longer than that. The wheels are
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
, which are 17 inch wheels that came on the E46 3-series, not the 1-series.
Maybe the owner switched them on at some point. The tires are Hankook Ventus v12 evo summer tires, so these were not, presumably, smaller-diameter winter wheels.
My neighborhood is close to a Metro station, although it’s a good 3/4 mile walk, so the 135i could in theory belong to a neighbor who rides the train in to DC for work. But you’d think they’d use it to run an occasional errand out here in the burbs, or something, every once in a while. Alas, it just sits there, collecting rust on its brake rotors.
At least the power folding mirrors were activated before it was left to rot.

My sister had an older Audi parked next to her house for at least 6 months. We debated trying to drag it into the backyard to file an abandoned vehicle claim for ownership/title, but the cops eventually picked it up (apparently stolen).

It must not be a manual because I think you would have tried to claim it by now.

Oddly we had two cars on our block that had a similar fate... but neither of them were nice cars haha.
First it was a Hyundai... something... that sat for a good 5-6 months. I guess the story was one of the people’s roommates left the car and all of his stuff when he broke lease and skipped town. The stiffed roommates eventually started working on it to get it going again.
Actually that was a pretty fun story. They’d been working on it all Friday and Saturday and so finally, half dunk walking back from dinner, I asked them what the problem was. They did a bunch of work, but it still wouldn’t start! The starter wasn’t even engaging! I staggered over to the driver’s seat and asked them to demonstrate. They did and, nothing the car was a stick, asked if they’d tried pushing in the clutch. “What is a clutch?” the guy in the driver’s seat replied. After explaining it was the one on the left, no... the far left , he depressed it fully and the car fired right up. They gave me beer. It was a good day.
Then we had a Mercury... something parked in the same spot for over a year. Eventually the same guys got that one going again too (luckily it was an auto haha) and one of them now daily drives it.
This post seems to have gone down the rabbit hole quite quickly...

Sad trombone. I feel bad if either of my cars sits for 2 weeks.
Side note; if I had a 135, I’d put a roof rack on it.

Stolen maybe? We had a car get parked in my neighborhood with out of state tags that sat in the same spot for at least 6 months.
They needed the road cleared and the car hadn’t moved, cops got called, car had been stolen like 3 states over or something.

Montego Blue is this:
Carbon Black is black with blue flake that becomes more or less noticeable depending on how the light hits it. I know because I used to own this:
